Cricket legend Kapil Dev is the primary Chancellor of the Haryana Sports University at Rai in Sonipat district.

Vij had earlier declared that the Sports faculty, Rai (Sonipat), are upgraded to a Sports University.
The State cupboard had recently approved the proposal.
Vij had aforementioned that the university can conduct educational and coaching programs in education and sports sciences, as well as sports technology and medicine.
Courses can embody coaching for sports management, sports infrastructure engineering, sports science, sports nutrition, sports journalism, and sports selling.
